Our design of the Simpatico range has been derived from several sources of inspiration. Firstly, from the ornamental detail and pattern found within nature. But crucially, it grew out of our desire to push the boundaries of office furniture design and show off our skills!

Product designer, Jim Leach, explains: “We love the use of pattern and small, intricate detailing. This is something that has been big in contemporary furniture design, but in terms of office furniture, has only really been evident in the use of patterned fabrics. Our challenge was to get this level of detail into the very heart of the furniture. Rather than being there as a decorative extra, it should be a fundamental part of the furniture’s form.”

The solution was to experiment in laser-cutting. Traditionally, this is used to produce simple inlays, but with the Simpatico collection we have demonstrated how the combined use of both machinery and creativity can push the boundaries and achieve new and dynamic effects.
